Aluminium foundry filter filtration purification has been widely used in current aluminum production process. According to the filter form, it can be divided into three categories: mesh filter, particle filter, and ceramic filter.
The mesh filter purifies the large inclusions and oxide film in the aluminum melt through the effect of mechanical blocking. The mesh size is smaller and the purification effect is higher, but when the mesh size is less than 0.5×0.5m, it is difficult for the aluminum melt to pass through by gravity.
Particle filter is also called a bed filter. A filter is a container containing a certain thickness of granular filter media. When the aluminum melt flows through the container, the inclusions are mechanically blocked by the filter medium or adsorbed and purified. The filter medium effectively removes oxidized inclusions. The purification effect of the filter bed is determined by the small gap of the filter layer, the thickness of the filter layer, and the size of the filter medium.
Porous ceramic filters can be divided into corundum ceramic and foam ceramic filters. The porosity of the former is smaller, usually <50%; while the latter is larger, 80%-90%, their filtration mechanism is the same, it is a deep bed filtration mechanism. When filtering, the aluminum melt flows along the tortuous channels and pores under the action of static pressure, and the inclusions contained in it are combined with the filtering The inner surface of the medium is in contact with each other, and is subjected to pressure, friction, surface adsorption and other blocking forces, and is firmly trapped in the pores of the ceramic material.
Ceramic foam filter has the advantages of high filtration precision, low cost, simple device, convenient operation and maintenance, etc. It can be used in conjunction with other aluminium foundry filter equipment to improve the purity of molten metal and reduce filtration costs.
Foam Ceramic Filter can remove a large number of oxidized inclusions in molten aluminum and impurities generated in the production process. Foam ceramic filtration technology has become the main filtration method for commercial aluminum alloys all over the world. Due to its low installation and operating costs and ease of use, the technology has rapidly expanded to aluminum foundries of various types and levels of complexity.
When using a ceramic foam filter, install a ceramic disc filter in the CFF filter box. The molten aluminum is poured into the filter box through the ceramic foam filter, and the filter captures the fine particles in the molten metal.
