The filtering mechanism of the ceramic foam aluminum filter is a deep bed filtering mechanism. When filtering, the aluminum melt flows along the tortuous channels and pores under the action of static pressure, and the inclusions contained in it are combined with the filtering The inner surface of the medium is in contact with each other, and is subjected to pressure, friction, surface adsorption and other blocking forces, and is firmly trapped on the inner surface, gap or cave of the ceramic material, and is separated from the melt.
How to Use Ceramic Foam Filter for Aluminum Foundry
(1) Choose the appropriate ceramic foam. When selecting a foam ceramic filter, first consider the requirements for filtration accuracy. In most cases, the use of ceramic foam with 30 pores/in is satisfactory. If the metal is particularly dirty, 20-hole/in ceramic foam can be used for pre-filtering to prevent premature blockage of 30-hole/in ceramic foam. Secondly, consideration should be given to the casting speed, the flow rate of liquid aluminum per unit time, the original cleanliness of the melt, the highest content of inclusions in the metal and the total throughput of the metal.
(2) Install ceramic foam correctly. Usually, foam ceramics are arranged horizontally in the filter bowl, allowing the aluminum water to pass vertically downwards or vertically upwards. Using the lower casting method, the aluminum water rises evenly, and when it hits the filter, there is no turbulence, which can ensure that the filter starts evenly. In addition, when installing the ceramic foam aluminum filter, the assembly part must be sealed with refractory fiber to eliminate the possibility of any bypass.
(3) Before the aluminum liquid is filtered, it is best to heat the foam ceramics with a heater or a gas blowpipe, so as the filter temperature is close to the melt temperature, which can ensure the normal filtering of the aluminum liquid and prevent the metal from solidifying and blocking the holes.
